Car customs clearance in Kyrgyzstan in 2026: rates and nuances
What makes up the customs payment, why EVs win, and how to calculate the full car price before buying.
Kyrgyzstan is part of the EAEU, so duties follow the union’s unified rates: for individuals they depend on engine size and vehicle age. Once cleared in KG, the car can be freely sold anywhere in the union.
Main payment components
The payment consists of the duty (roughly €1.5–3.5 per cm³ for petrol cars aged 3–7 years), VAT for corporate imports, processing fees and the recycling fee. For a popular 2.0 sedan aged 5 years the total is usually $3,500–5,500. EVs pay no duty — only fees.
How to get the numbers right
The main mistake is counting only the car price and delivery while forgetting the recycling fee and charges. Ask the importer for a complete written cost sheet: lot price, staged logistics, all customs payments, paperwork. We prepare such a calculation free of charge in 15 minutes for any model.
